The Bergeron Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology (BEST) initiative is a new program at the Lassonde School of Engineering designed to help you to turn your ideas into commercial ventures.
BEST is an academic support program that gives students a the grounding in the principles of design thinking, commercialization, business strategy, marketing and intellectual property that any budding entrepreneur needs to build a new venture.
Alongside this knowledge, students learn the hands-on skills it takes to launch a start-up through pitch competitions judged by venture capitalists, mentoring from successful entrepreneurs and advice from industry experts.
BEST start-ups—like Shapetrace, which is led by Lassonde PhD student, Julien Li-Chee-Ming and co-founder Ernest Yap—receive access to technology, workspace in the BEST Lab, and connections with venture capital investors. Once a BEST student project, Shapetrace has developed into a fully-fledged cloud-based solution for construction teams.
Open your mind to endless career opportunities, expected and otherwise. You could be a civil engineer, computer engineer, electrical engineer, international developer, mechanical engineer, software engineer, space engineer and more.
